Minneapolis, MN

This was the first show I was able to attend on the MTX/Teen Idols tour. My friends Ben, Clay, and Kevin showed up at around 6 o'clock since the doors were at 7 and I hadn't seen MTX in a while. Of course since we got there so early, the doors had been postponed. Both MTX and the Teen Idols got detained at the Canadian border for like 3 hours.

Finally, after the four of us had been sitting around for a while, MTX pulled up. I said hello to everyone and gave Joel his birthday present (a really neat Mr. Potatohead massager thing). After standing outside for a bit, we all went inside. I saw part of the opening band's set, and it was nothing too striking. (I don't remember anything about them, which is never a good sign.)

The Teen Idols still hadn't arrived by the time the opening band was finished. MTX got their equipment set up, and I helped make the set list. Just when we thought MTX were going to have to go on second, the Teen Idols burst through the door. They hit the stage, and it was amazing. This was the first time I ever saw them play.

Right after the Teen Idols finished, I rushed to the front of the stage. I wasn't about to let anyone block my view of MTX! That didn't last long though once they started playing. The whole place was really really hot, in particular in front of the stage. The crowd was pretty good at first, but then they started getting on my nerves. Part way through the set I wussed out and stood on the side of the stage. All the heat and elbowing was just too distracting. MTX played an awesome set despite the heat and the fact that Frank's amp kept making scary noises.

My friends and I stayed for a little while after the show, but since not too much was going on we decided to leave. It was great to be back in the company of MTX, and a good time was had by all.
