Pittsburgh, PA

This was another show that I was worried about finding. The last time I was in Pittsburgh I had a terrible time getting around, but fortunately that didn't happen this time. I found the place super easily, and even found a close parking spot!

The club was sort of strange. It was on the top floor of a really tall building. (I'm not sure how many stories, but there were a hell of a lot of stairs.) MTX were already there when I got there. I think they were sound checking, but I don't remember for sure. I saw Robert and wished him a happy birthday, then watched MTX.

After they did their sound check, Joel, Paige, and I started planning for a way to surprise Robert. Joel went to the store to buy balloons and streamers and stuff. When he came back Paige, Matt, and I started sneakilly blowing up balloons for the event.

After that I went and walked around. I saw several people that I'd met at the last Pittsburg show. We went into the backstage room, and shortly after were informed that we weren't allowed to be in there! What?! No one that wasn't actually in the band and wasn't 21 was allowed in. It seemed rather unfair.

We left the backstage area and went back to the main room. The opening band (I forget their name) started playing. They were ok, I didn't pay too much attention though.

Next up were the Teen Idols, who were awesome as always. During their set I went to help Joel work on the setlist. We worked out the final plans for Robert's birthday surprise, and MTX set up to play. It was really great. The last song before "Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba" was my cue to go relieve Paige at the merch table so that she could go up front. It was great. They even had some girls come up on stage and kiss Robert. After it was over, Paige came back and I returned to my spot in front.

When MTX finished playing it was still pretty early (the show had to be done by a certain time so that hip-hop night could start downstairs). Once all the stuff was loaded into the van, we all went to McDonalds. We hung out there for a long time, and then went back to the club. Keith was really messed up, and he was calling everything MCwhatever. It was funny. On the walk back Jym kept beating up on me. He was hanging on me with all his weight and I completely thought he was going to send us both tumbling to the ground.

We got back to the club, and stayed around in front for a little while. Then it was time for MTX to go, so I said goodbye to everyone and walked back to my car. It was, as always, an awesome show.
