San Francisco, CA

This was the record release show for "Revenge Is Sweet, and So Are You." It was a totally unbelievable show! It was also rather groundbreaking in that my parents let me go to San Francisco all by myself!! Woohoo! And I got to stay with the super nice Jim and Kelly!

As always, I was unbelievably excited. I had to take the buses to get there, so I left way early. I had to walk a bunch too, and as I was walking down the street the club was on, what did I hear? MTX!!! I started running until I got to the club. The door was open but there was this security guy sitting there. I quickly told him that I was with MTX and ran up to the front to catch the very end of their sound check. The guy gave me a kind of funny look but he let me through.

The show that night was with the Groovie Ghoulies, and I was super excited to see everyone from both bands. A while later people started coming inside. I had been used to just walkin around, and I didn't really notice that they'd tightened the security. The head security guy knew who I was, but apparently the guy gaurding the doorway to the backstage didn't. I didn't see him there and I just walked by, and he started screaming at me! I was so freaked out cause I didn't realize what was going on. Once he realized I was allowed to go back there though he was really nice and apologized and stuff, so it ended up fine.

Pansy Division played that night too. I'm not so much a fan, but the Ghoulies and MTX totally rocked! It was funny, right before MTX played there was this guy that came around handing out flyers that had a picture of the Bent Nails (Frank's high school band) and the lyrics to one of their songs and stuff. It was pretty neat, except the only reason the guy was doing it was to embarrass Frank, so that was pretty lame. He wanted everyone to make paper airplanes out of them and throw them at Frank. Not that I would have anyway, but I especially didn't want to because the guy was a total jerk! I was trying to talk to him about the Bent Nails, because I'd been trying to find out information about them for forever, and the guy was really mean. Oh well...

One of the neat things at that show was that everyone in MTX had just bought really rad new watches in Japan. Frank got one that is really robotic looking. Joel got one that you press a button to make the time show up, and then it goes away. He blows on the watch and tries to time it so that it looks like he's blowing out the time. It's funny. Jym got a watch that's a red robot. I think the head pops up to reveal the time, but I don't remember for sure...

After the show I had to find a way to get back to the place I was staying at. Since the Groovie Ghoulies are so super nice they agreed to give me a ride. Another thing of note that I found out that night, was that Frank is getting married! Yay for him!!

Also at that show I got one of the super neat MTX fly-swatters!!

That's about all I have to say for that show, but it was definately one of the best weekends ever!
